CEEE Team’s Pakistan - Lahore Visit

Prof. Dr. M. Pınar Mengüç, CEEE Director, and Dr. Cem Keskin, R&D Team Manager at CEEE, visited Lahore, Pakistan from November 21 through November 27, 2021 for future collaborations with LTS (Lahore Time Square Limited) and a field trip. The parties held a series of meetings and visits to explore the potential contributions the CEEE can make in the fields of sustainability and energy efficiency to the LTS’ ongoing real-estate project, as well as educational activities that can be offered to that effect under the auspices of the Institute for Art and Culture.

A Post-COP26 Look into Global Climate Change | Climate Crisis From the Eyes of Women Leaders

The CEEE held a panel discussion titled “A Post-COP26 Look into Global Climate Change: Climate Crisis From the Eyes of Women Leaders” to address the quest for sustainable solutions for the global climate crisis and its resulting problems, featuring pioneering women leaders as panelists. Designed by Canan M. Özsoy, President at General Electric (GE), and Prof. M. Pınar Mengüç, CEEE Director, the event opened up climate change and energy practices for a discussion in the wake of the COP26 conference, where the women leaders of the energy and finance sectors, including Ebru Çiçekliyurt, CEO at Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy Turkey,  Ebru Edin, Executive Vice President at Garanti BBVA, Megi Gabriyel, Regional Sales Director for Renewable Energy at General Electric (GE), Özlem Kıldır, CEO and Founder of Profinstance Advisory & Training Services, and Şule Kılıç, Deputy Head for Turkey at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), talked about innovative and sustainable practices being employed in their firms. CEEE Team Attends FEMTI 2021 Conference in Italy

CEEE researchers attended the inaugural FEMTI2021 Conference (Frontiers of Energy Management and Technology Innovation), which was held online from December 16 through December 17, 2021.  The  conference was funded by University of Pisa and organized by the Department of Energy, System, Land and Construction (DESTeC). Prof. Dr. M. Pınar Mengüç, CEEE Director, gave a keynote speech titled “Sustainable Energy and the Human Element”, while Dr. Cem Keskin, R&D Team Leader at CEEE, made a presentation titled “Cyber-Physical-Social System Conceptualization for Next Generation Building Energy Systems” in another session of the conference.

Prof. Yunus Çengel Attends the Thermodynamics Class as a Guest Lecturer

Prof. Yunus Çengel attended Prof. M. Pınar Mengüç’s 2021 Fall semester Thermodynamics course in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Özyeğin University as a guest lecturer. Prof. Çengel, the author of many books published by McGraw-Hill, which were then translated into many languages across the world, and are now being used as course books, joined the class on December 16, 2021 and gave a presentation titled “The Essence of Thermodynamics and Its Reflection in Real Life”.

Latest News from CEEE Researchers

Our researcher Gökçe Ötkün, who is currently pursuing her doctoral studies on transdisciplinary sustainability strategies, started her new role as Sustainability Manager at Eczacıbaşı Building Group. Ötkün obtained her bachelor’s degree in Architecture from METU and her master’s degree in Sustainable Architecture Studies from the University of Sheffield. Ötkün is currently pursuing significant studies to light the way to sustainability.
